YMCA Hockey Game Nights Update

Posted by admin 0 comments

Hello Hockey Parents,

When you come to the Y this Tuesday for Game nights, you will notice that all of the gates to the rink have been moved about 18 feet closer to the West end of the rink. The purpose is to create a larger area for spectators and families to watch the games from the East end of the rink. The bench area can become rather chaotic during games when there is a large number of extra bodies around the benches. This makes it difficult for the coaches to do their jobs during the games and harder for the players(especially the Juniors) to know where they are supposed to be when they are not playing on the rink. With this in mind we have designated the entire area from the first gate to the wall at the end of the rink to be only for players, coaches and referees. All others that are watching the game should stay in the area from the first gate to the glass wall area and around the East end of the rink. When you arrive for your game and enter through the double doors, please turn right and go to the designated changing areas on the East end of the building.

We will ask all of the players to dress in the East end on the gym. There is plenty of room down each hallway and the space between the basketball goals in front of the glass wall.

Thank you in advance for your help in implementing these changes. We’re confident that these changes will make the game experience more rewarding for all of the participants.
